In the past few months, the attack on Ukraine by the Russian Federation had worldwide repercussions in the agri-food sector.

Because of Russian threats,wheat in the silos stranded in the Black Sea ports could worsen the dynamics of global food security, showing this way that the agri-food sector represents one of the main causes of import dependence for domestic food consumption. Similarly to what happened after the 2008 crisis, the price of cereals skyrocketed and led  to uncertainties on world food markets.

In a scenario that also includes the consequences of the current climate crisis, Member States of the European Union are facing the crisis in the security of cereal supply.
